Media Ark

We launched in early 2007 with a series of commissions for Channel 4’s s online motoring portal, 4Car, followed by various travel film projects for the Guardian and Observer newspapers over the next two years.

Impressed with our ability to deliver top quality content with editorial credibility, to tight deadlines and budgets, Channel 4 quickly came back to us with more online commissions – this time for C4 Food.

In 2009 the excitement continued. While Julian was busy producing and presenting a second series of Julian and Camilla’s World Odyssey for the Travel Channel, we struck a deal to launch POW TV – the new online channel for the Daily Mail Ski & Snowboard magazine – along with commissions from the Tirol Tourist Board and top ski resorts including Aspen, Colorado.

As we speed towards 2011, the projects are coming in thick and fast. POW TV is set to launch later this year, Julian has been in India overseeing another new series for the Travel Channel (look out for details), and the Austrian Tourist Board has commissioned us to produce an 11-part series of shorts for a social media campaign coming soon…

What we do

At Media Ark we create broadcast quality film and video content for distribution across various platforms.

Our long-standing relationships with editors at major publications and online portals gives us an intimate understanding of how to grab their attention.

So instead of the same old films where a presenter simply waxes lyrical about how great a place or product is, we generate genuinely interesting stories – fronted by credible journalists and specialists in their field. The result is that audiences are inspired to experience what they’re seeing.

But we don’t stop there. Whether you’re looking for a one-off film or an integrated campaign, we can advise you on how best to use your content – and how to synergise it with your other marketing activity. Our team are experts in print, digital and social media, and we’ve an in-house web designer on hand to create bespoke micro sites, rich medial banners and virals.

More importantly, though, we can do all this quickly, efficiently and extremely cost effectively.

Julian Hanton

Matt

Julian’s career began in his homeland, New Zealand, where he headed up the successful production company, Katipo, producing shows that have sold in over 23 territories worldwide.

Since moving to the UK in 2005 he has worked with IWC Media (where he met Matt), Channel 4 and the Natural History Museum, as well as producing, directing and presenting three series of Julian and Camilla’s World Odyssey for Travel Channel (UK).

And as if that wasn’t enough to keep him out of trouble, Julian is also an award winning travel photographer – having filmed and photographed in more than 75 countries.

Matt Carroll

Matt

Matt’s career as a motoring and travel journalist has seen him writing for some of the world’s leading newspapers and magazines. Beginning in 1997, as a reporter for Autosport and Motoring News, he had a five-year spell as the Senior Copywriter at British GQ, with other credits including Men’s Journal in New York, The Sunday Times and FHM. You can still see his work in publications like Men’s Health, the Guardian, the Independent and many more.

Beside his editorial pedigree, Matt has extensive commercial experience, having created ad’ campaigns for the likes of Samsung and Mitsubishi, and worked on digital projects for brands including FedEx and San Miguel.

As a presenter, Matt will do (almost) anything for a good story. In recent years, he’s ridden on the back of a Grand Prix motorbike, chased tornadoes across America and spent the night in a former military prison. Not all at the same time, of course…

Daniel Nikolaison

Matt

Drama, documentary, travel… Media Ark’s editor/director extraordinaire, Daniel, has done it all on his way from Christchurch, New Zealand. With a background in editing, having worked on numerous primetime television shows back in his homeland, Daniel is just as happy filming for the BBC as he is in the edit suite.

He’s also a pretty good snowboarder. Which comes in handy when he’s out on the hill directing and shooting the films we produce for POW TV. Just don’t mention the time he ended up on his backside in an Aspen couloir. No wonder they call him ‘Dangerous’…
