The Media Ark is crewed by a passionate team of creatives, editorial experts, film-makers and brand specialists.

Launched in 2006 by television presenter Julian Hanton, and travel journalist Matt Carroll, as a full-service production company specialising in food, travel and automotive, we’ve been involved in online video since its infancy.

But these days, great content alone is not enough to attract consumers’ attention (and keep it). So as well as producing top quality editorial and commercial films, we help our clients make the most of their video assets by harnessing our media partnerships and detailed consumer insight.

We love nothing more than getting stuck into a challenging creative brief (kettle on, sketchpads at the ready), whether it’s coming up with a big campaign idea, producing exciting content for a client’s online channel or creating a microsite to house it all. We’re fanatical about television, too – having produced over 50 hours of programming, which has sold in over 100 territories worldwide.

Mitsubishi i
The challenge

Produce the launch campaign for the Mitsubishi ‘i’ – a quirky city car to rival the Smart.

The solution

Using our consumer insight, we spotted an opportunity for Mitsubishi to target a new audience with this car – younger and more urban than the traditional consumers. So we harnessed the three things that immediately strike you about the ‘i’ – namely its Japanese styling, sense of character and practicality – and gave the car its own tone of voice, allowing it to talk directly to the audience.

As part of the campaign we produced a photography portfolio, press ads, brochures, advertorials and taxi wraps. But everything centred around the microsite, which featured Japanese-style illustrations to emphasise the car’s heritage and playfulness – all featuring distinctly British icons, which resonated more with the UK audience.

The result

The car sold out within months of arriving on dealers’ forecourts – and the client adopted the style we established for future activity.

The challenge

Produce the copy deck and content for the new Visit England website. The numbers alone say it all about this project: over 90,000 words of unique prose, all delivered in around eight weeks.

The solution

Blending our editorial skills and experience with an in-depth understanding of all things digital, we generated ideas for over 600 mini ‘articles’ – suggestions for what to see and do – and where to stay in England. We then commissioned a team of top notch editorial writers to put it all into writing – in a way that inspired and excited the audience, rather than bombarding them with opening times and admission prices.
